When the lakes freeze in Madison, something magical happens—they transform into our community’s largest parks. Mark your calendars for the Clean Lakes Alliance 14th Annual Frozen Assets Festival, a celebration that has raised over $1.2 million since 2012 for lake improvement projects while proving that winter is anything but hibernation season.

Plan Your Visit

The festival is completely FREE and open to the public (except the ticketed Happy Hour Summit and 5K registration). The Edgewater (1001 Wisconsin Place) offers both lakefront activities and warm indoor spaces. Parking is available in The Edgewater ramp (arrive early—it fills quickly) or in nearby city parking ramps.

The Market Café at The Edgewater opens at 6 a.m. on festival day for early birds wanting coffee and breakfast before the 5K.

Celebrating Our Frozen Assets

In Wisconsin, we don’t let winter slow us down—we celebrate it! The Frozen Assets Festival reminds us that our lakes are valuable resources deserving protection year-round. By bringing together thousands of community members and visitors for winter fun, we’re building the connections and raising the funds necessary to ensure these waters remain healthy for generations to come.

Bundle up, bring your sense of adventure, and join us in making a difference for our lakes!
