Are rooms available during UW Graduation?

The hotel opens inventory approximately 12 months in advance of arrival date.

It is highly recommended that guests add their information to the waitlist using this form, for high demand dates such as UW Graduation, Parents Weekend and Homecoming.

Waitlists open 24 months in advance of arrival date.

Please note, being added to the waitlist is not a guarantee of receiving a call or a hotel reservation. Once dates open, we will call guests in the order they were added to the waitlist.

What is included in our Resort Fee?

Our Resort Fee is an $21 nightly fee, plus 15.5% tax, includes wired and wireless internet, transportation to and from Dane County Airport (based on availability), local shuttle service within a 2 mile radius of the hotel (based on availability), two bottles of water daily in your guestroom, pandemic preparedness response, access to the Edgewater Fitness Club and Spa relaxation pool.

Do we allow pets? What is the fee?

Yes! We are a dog friendly property. Please read below for our pet policy.

  • Pets are defined as domestic dogs under 50lb. A maximum of 2 pets per room are allowed.
  • A one-time non-refundable service fee of $75.00 will be assessed to your room account. This fee is charged per guestroom, per pet, per stay.
  • Upon your departure, the hotel will perform a thorough cleaning of the room to bring the room to its original condition. Should there be any damage to your room, we reserve the right to bill you for the room restoration cost.
  • While your pet is very welcome at the hotel, they cannot join you in the interior areas of The Boathouse, The Statehouse, The Ice House, health club and Spa, or any function room in the hotel due to health regulations unless they are a certified service animal. Pets are allowed on the exterior terraces of the dining establishments, provided they access the spaces via the outdoor entries, they are leashed, and they do not disrupt other guests.
  • Kindly be advised that your pet is not allowed to be left alone in your room at any time. Please also ensure to use a leash when traveling through public areas of the building. If a pet is left in the room unattended and creates an ongoing disturbance on the guest floor, we reserve the right to remove a pet from the guestroom. In the event of this necessity, we will contact you on the cell phone number you provide. 
  • It is the responsibility of the pet owner to properly dispose of all litter and pet waste while in the hotel. 

Is early check in possible?

While our guaranteed check-in time is 4:00 p.m., we do accommodate early arrivals if the guestroom is available. If the guestroom is not available prior to arrival, the front desk will pre-register you and check your luggage.

To guarantee an early arrival, guests must reserve and pay for the room the night before to ensure it will be ready before the check in time of 4:00 p.m.

How old do I have to be to check in?

The minimum age to check in is 18.

  • Registered guests are responsible for the full repair and replacement costs of damages to the property of the hotel, and for extraordinary cleaning costs if required.  This is above and beyond any other fees, including pet fees. 
  • Smoking is not permitted in rooms or public areas and will result $300 fine. 
  • Registered guests or their visitors who exhibit disruptive behaviors may be ejected from the hotel without refund.  The hotel may also fine guests in the amount of compensation given to other third parties resulting from those disruptive behaviors.  
  • All guests in rooms shall be registered with the hotel.  Occupancy shall not exceed fire code. Persons violating will be subject to ejection without a refund. 

Is a late checkout possible?

While our check-out time is 12:00 p.m., we do accommodate late checkouts based upon availability. There is typically a fee associated with late checkouts depending on the time requested, and to request a late checkout, we would note your reservation and the Manager on Duty would inform you of availability on the date of departure.

Is a deposit required to make a reservation?

For most reservations, we require a credit card to guarantee the booking.  We will charge this card for a reservation that does not arrive on the arrival date or that cancels within the specified cancellation period. A deposit or full prepayment may be required for special occasions.

What is your standard cancellation policy?

For most reservations, we require a credit card to guarantee the booking.  We will charge this card for a reservation that does not arrive on the arrival date or that cancels within the specified cancellation period. A deposit or full prepayment may be required for special occasions.

We understand that travel needs change and guests may find it necessary to depart early. An early departure fee of 50% of the amount due for the rest of the stay will be assessed to guests who depart within 72 hours.

Do we offer rollaway beds or cots for guests?

Yes, we offer a limited number of rollaways at the cost of $75/night. These must be reserved in advance of your stay. To request a rollaway for your guest room, please click here.

Do we offer cribs or pack and plays for guests?

Yes, we do offer cribs based upon availability. To request a crib for your guest room, please click here. We will get back to you on availability and cost. We do not offer pack and plays.

Do we have a pool?

We do have a relaxation pool located in The Edgewater Spa. This indoor pool is set at room temperature and access is included in your resort fee.

Is The Edgewater smoke free?

We are a completely smoke free property. If there is any smoking damage to a room after a guest checks out, a $300 fine will be charged to their guestroom.

What are the differences in the room styles?

All of our rooms are deluxe style accommodations, with large, spa-styled bathrooms and upscale features. Edgewater Rooms do not have views of the lake, though some of them do have some wonderful city views. Lakeview rooms have partial views of the lake, while Lakeshore rooms in The Wisconsin Building have direct views of Lake Mendota with floor to ceiling windows.

Our Terrace rooms feature either one large terrace or two to three smaller balconies that include patio furniture. Our Langdon Lofts, located in the original and restored Edgewater Hotel, are larger rooms with king size beds and pullout sofa sleepers. Our Langdon Studio rooms, also located in the original Edgewater Hotel, feature lake views and claw-foot soaking tubs. Premium Lakefront king rooms are located in the newly constructed Wisconsin tower and feature floor to ceiling windows and panoramic views of Lake Mendota.

What’s the difference between the Wisconsin Building and the Langdon Building?

The Langdon building is the original, historic Edgewater Hotel. The Wisconsin building is the newly constructed tower.

What are your parking rates?

  • Self-parking visitor: $4/Hr or $28/Day maximum
  • Self-parking overnight: $28
  • Valet visitor: $20/day rate
  • Valet overnight: $35

What type of transportation does your car service offer? What are the hours?

Our car service offers transportation to and from Dane County Airport and within a two-mile radius of the hotel, including UW-Madison. This is based on availability at the time of request.

The car service runs from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

How do I schedule a pickup at the airport?

While we do not schedule airport pickups in advance, we recommend guests call our main line, 608.535.8200, when they land at Dane County Airport. The hotel operator will then advise on the status of our car service and instructions on where to meet the vehicle.

What translation services do you offer for guests traveling internationally?

The Edgewater welcomes guests from all over the world. Our front desk associates can speak Spanish, Tagalog, Zulu, Xhosa, Shona, Portuguese, Swahili and German. If you require assistance in one of these languages, please contact us at 608.535.8200.

do you store packages/boxes for hotel guests?

The Edgewater will hold up to 3 packages complimentary per reservation for guests of the hotel. To hold additional packages, there is a $5 per package, per day fee. Charges will be posted to your room reservation from the day the package is received until the guest retrieves the package. To avoid holding fees, we encourage guests to order online and utilize in-store pickup.
